Hi.

Some people say that philosophy isn't any use for anything. I remember reading Rorty back in the 1980s (whilst at Uni) and being painfully aware that the language of Uni was alien to any language in the working class streets of my youth or even my parents house. My parents never understood, nor respected what I was doing with my life.

This is the societal gulf that Rorty presciently sees and describes. But philosophy has a use, double edged, of helping us to see what is going down, and that is at least something.
