I just find them kinda boring and ridiculous. Although I think it's possible that Meghan McCain wins the prize for the most absurd SS codename of all: Peter Sellers.

i think they'd rather go the Marquis de Sade route for their jollies.

but, i totally agree with you. a school kid could've come up with better descriptors.
otoh, neither of these cartoon mutants provide much spark for the imagination.

His dad was a dick and his code name is from a failed auto manufacturer.

Not like they call him Mustang, or Camaro, or even Charger, his code name is a wannabe big boy muscle car, thus kind of funny.
