With GOP in disarray, will more voters consider Gary Johnson?

If Thursday's events in the GOP nominating race prove anything, they prove that regardless of who the Republicans nominate, he will be flawed, wounded and vulnerable to ads from the Obama camp.

Barring a major scandal in the administration, a Republican will not be able to beat President Obama in 2012.

But what about a former Republican turned Libertarian? If the GOP never reaches a true consensus on a nominee (and Ron Paul is not the nominee), then I am pretty sure Gary Johnson will get a huge boost in visibility by the summer. And with the Americans Elect push to get on the ballot in all 50 states (at least 14 secured so far), we could very well be looking at a four-way race come November.

I don't think they are in disarray. They are leading the news now with all the attention. AlinPA Jan 2012 #1

They will get behind the winner of the primary with a lot of money and zealous voters.

He's "Gary who?" to 97% of voters (no poll to back that up, just a wild-ass guess), and we are coming down to Gingrich vs. Romney in a slog that should go all the way to the convention. That's good, because independents and crossovers can keep Ron Paul in the race, soaking up about 10-15% of the delegates, denying either one of them a first ballot victory.

People who worry about Jeb Bush being nominated at a deadlocked convention simply don't know the Republicon voters, they don't really want a Bush dynasty, and they are not about to hand this to someone who didn't stick his neck out there when it came time to be vetted by the public.

From what I've heard of this guy, he's WAY too sane for the modern-day GOP. Even "saner" than Huntsman, which is saying a lot.
