AP sources: Obama team to form agenda group
By KEN THOMAS
Associated Press

WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Barack Obama's political organization is forming an outside, nonprofit group to support the president's legislative agenda.

The unprecedented move gives Obama a way to promote his agenda outside the confines of the White House and seeks to harness the energy from his re-election campaign into support for legislation.

Democratic officials say the group, Organizing for Action, will be announced Friday. The nonprofit will work on key legislative battles, train future leaders and local issues around the country.

Obama campaign manager Jim Messina will be national chairman of the nonprofit, which will be separate from the Democratic National Committee.

5. Just got email. I can donate the same way I did to the election. Same team. Vitally needed, IMHO.

Edit:

From each of us, if that was what you meant. Individuals will be providing the funding. The big money isn't going to be helping with what we're aiming for now.

6. It's in your email if you donated for the presidential election. They'll begin taking monthly again.

This was something that I asked about right after the election. I'm signing up again for the same amount, not much.

I'm not willing to let the GOP keep the House in 2014 and screw up our world even more. it's our only way to meet the challenge the Koch brothers are putting up already.

They have their team. Let's help ours.

Brilliant, since he won't be running for office again yet has this HUGE network.

I love it!

...the one that I got turned off to after the election, during the cliff business, was David Plouffe. He just seemed a little too eager to offer up Medicare and Social Security and it just burned me up. Is he still on-board? Or has he moved on?
