2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumFor Liberal Stalwart71 and Ailsagirl (and anyone else who followed last July): voter suppression
You asked me last summer if voter suppression was discussed when I met with BHO last July. I couldn't go in to detail, but I said yes, it was discussed.
As we saw, it was attempted, but the Democrats were VERY vigilant nationally, and though some voter suppression was attempted, very little of it had an impact, at least in the Senate and in the presidential election. Some extremely close House races ended up with Allen West being ousted in Florida and Ron Barber maintaining Gabby Giffords' seat in Arizona.
Not only that, the Obama White House is organizing a permanent in-house team to keep an eye on campaigns throughout the term, not just disbanding and reincarnating each election cycle. This may mitigate the effect of the gerrymandering of districts that gave us a Republican House despite a Democratic electorate.
The election may be over, but the subject is far from closed.

(20,450 posts)I had for this election. Not even the KKKoch Bros. topped the list for me. It's not over yet. We still have so much work to do to ensure that Republicans' desire to keep people from voting in future elections is thwarted!
