1. Yes. Yesterday, a doctor and family friend was shot by a patient in his office.

The patient was a 70-year-old man who he had not seen in years. Dr. Gilbert was the kindest, sweetest doctor I ever met. He once saw my son (when he was 4) at his house on a Sunday for a problem. Who knows what motivated the 70-year-old, if anything. All I know is if that man did not have a gun, Ron would be alive today. And his wife and young kids wouldn't be planning a funeral today.

14. Yes, a good background check would have kept that deranged man from getting a gun.

According to 2007 court documents, that man stalked his neighbors relentlessly over a perceived slight regarding a fence. He would scare the family's 3 boys, trying to push his way into their house when their dad wasn't home.

Another Responsible Gun Owner exercised his 2nd Amendment rights and the result is another dead Doctor.

8. I don't buy the statements made by these out-of-control cowboys that they "fear" for their life.

I've known far too many gun owners who muse about shooting people. Things like "could you shoot a person if you needed to?", or "what situations would allow you to shoot without fear of arrest?" and so on. They are nothing more than cowardly sick bastards who wouldn't consider confrontations without their "equalizer".

I don't know if the shooter was charged, but there will probably be more coverage on the afternoon news broadcasts at 4 p.m.

"The skating rink would have been closed at that hour."

It's going to turn into another Zimmerman/Trayvon he said/he said.
