National GOP Worried About State Parties

National Republicans "have begun to intervene in a handful of key Senate and House battlegrounds where state parties are in disarray, seeking to head off the possibility that local mismanagement could cost the party control of Congress," Politico reports.

"These 'orphan states,' most notably behemoths with traditionally weak parties like California, Illinois and New York, are increasingly the focus of top GOP officials in the nation's capital this spring."

and "swing" states. That they can't find viable candidates in NC and TX is depressing to me.

But I do think that both state party organizations are hurting because so much money is being poured into congressional, gubernatoral and presidential races.

You wouldn't know it looking at the legislature and the amount of congressional seats Rethugs hold. Its amazing that even after we voted for Obama in '08, the state Party is in such disarray.

4. The Democratic Party is strong in states that seem to have a strong Democratic Party apparatus.

You'd think that the Democrats would get a clue. If there is truly to be a "50-state Strategy," that strategy MUST necessarily include state and local offices where the Democrats are having their collective ass handed to them by the Republicans.

legislatures. 998. Unbelievable. Unless we actually do put a 50-state strategy into place, Democrats will soon become an extinct species in places like the South and the Great Plains.

i grew up republican with that is upset about the tea-party trying to wreck any cooperation with the democrats. on the local level both sides have to work together to get something done. they respect each other and every once in awhile give into the minority, since i`vie known him for 50 yrs we both respect each other and usually never talk politics but he did give us the republican strategy in several country local county elections. it was one of those my enemy is your enemy.

illinois is going to be very close this year, one strike against the democrats is a VERY unpopular governor who will not be up this year.the key is moderate republicans voting for obama and getting the democrats to the voting booth

You wave a check for a million bucks in front of a room full of Republican state politicians, and tell them, "look, you really need to pull it together for this election, so use this money wisely."

What will the state Republicans do with the money?

That's right. They'll blow it on steak dinner, liquor, and hookers, and go into the general fat, hung over, and tired.
