John Cougar Mellencamp to Gov Scott Walker: Hey, I'm liberal

Gov. Scott Walker may think twice about playing John Mellencamp's music on the trail again, the AP reports:

Liberal rocker John Mellencamp wants Republican Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker to know he supports collective bargaining and union rights and says Walker should be aware of that before using his song "Small Town" on the campaign trail.

Mellencamp's publicist Bob Merlis told The Associated Press on Wednesday that he sent Walker's campaign an email not asking him to stop using the song, but to inform him of Mellencamp's beliefs.

"He's a very liberal person," Merlis said of the singer. "He appeared at the Democratic National Convention in 2004. His wife at the time was a delegate at large. He's very pro-collective bargaining and the fight for a living wage."

Good for Mellencamp for taking the time to respond and making a wise decision to maintain a disconnect with Walker.

7. Wise decision?

It's been his ONLY choice since before he became famous ...

It was never even close to a decision - Mellencamp would never for a million years 'decide' to support Walker ....

Would any knowledgeable Liberal ever consider for a moment to support a radical right wing zealot ? ... its not ever a choice -since it is always and forever a no ...

Mellencamp would never consider supporting Walker .. ever

...when conservative musicians turn out to be a bunch of no talent hacks. The reich wing feels they have to steal from our side. I've crapped better music than the stuff Nugent or Hank Williams Jr. put out.

10. Don't forget about Ray Stevens

For a laugh, visit his page on wikipedia

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ray_Stevens

It reads as though he wrote it himself, and even details his activities every day last February.

I think that the Koch brothers secretly make contribitions to the support of has-been and never-was conservative celebrities.

I laugh the pink right off my little house. Kinda like Born in the USA as a pubbie song. They haven't got a clue. Not a clue.

I admit. I never read too much into it. Plus for the longest time, I always heard on lyric as, "Change comes around real soon makes us swimming in men."

16. I always heard it as about as cheerful as Springsteen's "Nebraska" but with a smart mouth

Holdin' on to sixteen as long as you can
Change is coming round real soon make us woman and men

Oh yeah, life goes on
Long after the thrill of living is gone, sayin'
Oh yeah, life goes on
Long after the thrill of living is gone

That's what it's about to me. When you quit hanging on to being 16, being "women and men" sucks.
