Three former Republican legislators endorse McAuliffe

Two former Northern Virginia Republican delegates, and another from Richmond, have come out in support of Democratic gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe.

They include Del. Vince Callahan Jr., who served 40 years in the General Assembly, and Del. Jim Dillard, both of Fairfax, as well as Del. Katherine Waddell from the Richmond area, a onetime GOP member who won election to the House in 2005 as an independent.

"I’m honored to have the support of former Republican legislators and will continue to work with members of all parties to find mainstream solutions to make the Commonwealth better for business," McAuliffe said in a statement.

And in a nod to the crossover support from Republicans, he emphasized how his business experience "has taught me that the best solutions usually come through compromise and working together."

Unlike Indiana and Missouri, which are usually red. If fringe extremists such as Akin and Mourdock go down to defeat in those places, it should not bode well for a like-minded candidate like Cuccinelli in a more competitive state such as Virginia. He has shown his true colors time and time again, which will (hopefully) be his downfall.
