2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumWe need to have Scott Prouty's Back
Without this man's courageous actions I truly feel President Obama would have had a much tougher time winning the election
With all the hate that is being blasted towards him we need to show him that there are many who respect what he did and are willing to support him
Here is a link I found on a mother jones article where he is raising money to help him with any legal troubles, hiring a security team since the crazy rightwingers seem to believe violence is the solution to anyhting that they are against, and he said he needs money to go to law school
(link for the fund is http://www.gofundme.com/1ix17c)

(11,464 posts)saying otherwise is delegitimizing the historic landslide President Obama won both in 2008 and 2012.
President Obama being the first legitimate President since LBJ.
there never was any way for Mitt to get 270. It was statistically impossible.
Almost all of President Obama's core voters voted FOR him, not against someone else.
Whereas almost no one voted for Mitt, but were attempting to vote against the President.
It is nicely ironic that Herr Mittens only got 47%. But there was no way he ever was going to get any more.

(11,464 posts)The wording is all wrong.
In effect, this just actually lets Mitt say he would have won if this didn't happen, therefore, it leads to Mitt even being talked about, instead of his being totally forgotten by now.
Takes nothing away from the guy, however, it also has nothing to do with the election results.
Mitt lost. It was a foregone conclusion President Obama would win, except to Karl Rove and Dick Morris and Fox.
It was not close. Not by a mile.
It was as statistically impossible for Mitt as it would have been for Hillary in 2008 to win the nomination. (Hillary would have destroyed McCain, but there was NO way that she would have been able to win the nomination, it was statistically decided weeks and weeks earlier).
Memes take hold and it should be nipped in the bud saying that this in any way changed the outcome.
Nothing wrong with congratulating the two of them (this guy and Jimmy Carter IV), but they did not contribute to the victory, it was already won.
So I do not wish to empower Mitt and give him an excuse to whine more that this caused him to lose. No Mitt (or any other person who would have been the nominee, never stood a chance whatsoever.)

(15,481 posts)election fraud. Don't take elections for granted. The right wing certainly doesn't.

(305 posts)nowhere do I insinuate that Pres. Obama would not have won the election

(24,096 posts)but Prouty certainly did have an influence, I don't think there is much doubt. And in a much more concrete way than Clinton.

(18,421 posts)This story isn't about who won the election. It's about someone who had the courage to stand up for what was right and expose Mittens as the man he truly is.
What on Earth could possibly be wrong with that?

(20,162 posts)The fund says it's 20% to it's goal. He's had 69 donors and the average donation is under $50. I think he's only trying to raise $10K to $15K. In contrast, George Zimmerman has raised over $300K.

(802 posts)...time I heard, and saw, this recording, I've said that I hope one day when the person that did this goes public, he/she will say that 'the moral of this story is, Mr. Romney, that you should have paid more attention to the movie 'The Help'...specifically, that those 'serving' you have eyes, ears and feelings...only now they've got IPhones too.'
