Repukes have now embraced gay rights. Now what?

In case you've been in a cave for a few weeks, all of the Repuke big shots/movers/shakers have decided that they can pick up some votes by doing a 180 on gays and gay rights. Rove, JEB, O'Reilly, and others have come out in favor of gays, if not gayness. this is completely political of course. Rove would favor child molestation if the Repukes could pick up one vote on that issue. And Limpballs and the other 10,000 hate radio hosts would not be far behind (Rusty would especially appreciate a pro-pedorasty stance).

What will the Dems do to get some of those votes back next year and in 2016?

1. I can't exactly believe that they have embraced gay rights. They might make a good show of it in

order to get a few more votes, but I don't think they've turned their backs on their "family values". I think it's the same way they are trying to get black and hispanic voters. They're just wearing a mask, but it's all empty behind it.

As the Bible Thumpers will no longer vote in lockstep for the GOP

4. Won't happen

Just like we liberals show up and vote for cons and DINOs every two years, the religious right will always vote (R). They MIGHT stay home for one cycle though. I would bet that Rove has done the political calculus on this though, and is seeing a net gain

5. Huckabee threatened to take them with him

Either way, when Republicans fight each other, I like to sit back, make some popcorn, and enjoy the show.

And having been a Democratic staffer in some very conservative districts, I refuse to use the term DINO.

7. The religious right goes where they're told

If Huckabee, Reed and Perkins get these evangelical pastors their congregations will follow. It's not like the Catholic Church where the Pope or local priest says one thing and people yawn 'whatever'. It's much authoritarian in these evangelical/fundy churches, if the pastor says that the GOP is now just as godless as the Democrats they'll leave.

6. Do you actually believe that a majority of elected Republicans...

...SUPPORT marriage equality? Their voting base wouldn't stand for it.
