Poll shows Palin leading potential Alaska Senate primary

If she decides to challenge Democratic Sen. Mark Begich in 2014, Palin has an edge in the Republican primary

BY JILLIAN RAYFIELD

Sarah Palin is an early front-runner in a potential Republican primary matchup for the 2014 Alaska senatorial race, according to a new poll by the GOP firm Harper Polling.

According to the poll, Palin would get 32 percent of the vote, followed by Lt. Gov. Mead Treadwell who would get 30 percent. Twenty-four percent said they are not sure, while only 14 percent said they’d vote for Joe Miller, the Tea Party candidate who failed to oust Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski in 2010.

Both Treadwell and Miller have formed exploratory committees for the race, which is to unseat Democratic Sen. Mark Begich, who is up for reelection. The poll finds that in a head-to-head matchup of just Treadwell and Miller, Treadwell would lead 45-26 percent.

The poll was conducted for the Tea Party Leadership Fund, which is pushing for Palin to run.

I was talking to my brother who voted for Obama, that the GOP would run her in a heartbeat. He thinks Chris Crisco will change to a Dem and run in 2016. I told him the Dems don't pick the dumbs like the GOP does. So I don't think Crisco stands a chance as a Dem. And his mouth can't be fixed.

As fun as it would be, palin doesn't have support in Alaska anymore.

Treadwell is going to run.

I pray to whatever probable deity that exists, that this woman doesn't get elected to the senate. As much as I disdain the Ryan's and Romney's of the world, I disdain people like Palin, Bachman, and Gohmert to an even greater degree.

if Palin would actually be running. It's easy for so many to say on a whim they would vote for her....but when reality is at play, there would be very many that will recall the fiascot of the 1/2 term governor.

It didn't seem like a good idea at the time, and now you can't get rid of it.

I don't know the percentage of teabaggers to non-teabaggers in Alaska's Republican population, but rational Alaskans remember that Palin quit halfway before her term was over and she was corrupt as the day is long. Palin will never actually run for office not because she has skeletons in her closet (everyone does), but because several of Palin's skeletons are punishable by long stints in a rented cell in Arizona.
