Jewish group demands Sen. Chuck Grassley apologize for Hitler comment

By Eric W. Dolan
Sunday, May 19, 2013 13:49 EDT

A liberal-leaning Jewish organization on Sunday called on Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) to apologize for linking U.S. foreign policy to the rise of Adolf Hitler.

“Senator Grassley’s Hitler comparison is absolutely inappropriate,” Aaron Keyak of the National Jewish Democratic Council said. “Grassley’s remark unfortunately places him among the usual cranks spouting similar nonsense every day on Twitter and is unbefitting of a U.S. Senator. Grassley should apologize immediately for his tweet and realize the very real dangers of making such extreme comparisons.”

On his Twitter account, Grassley alleged the United States was devoid of a foreign policy under President Barack Obama. He warned that a lack of a U.S. foreign policy lead to the rise of Hitler and the German invasion of Poland.

“US has no foreign policy. We shld remember what happened th last time we had no foreign policy. It was Sept 1939 Hitler started WWII Poland,” he tweeted Saturday.

you guessed it, the RW.

They want us to ignore the problems of all other nations and only look out for ourselves. Didn't work then; won't work now.

It concerns me that such people are getting elected - more and more often. The bagger candidates in 2010 were so low down, it was a wonder they were elected. Voters didn't care if they were felons, wife beaters, tax cheats, anything. They just went with the memes and got in. And it's not gotten any better with the Grifters Own Party. I've been stunned at the pond scum they've dredged up to put in office. It is making me lose faith - these guys are not fit to be in office.

IMO, it's because he is too stupid to remember all the right-wing talking points and wanders off track and does something that just makes common sense. Like I think he is a big opponent of high-tech H1B visas.

He was voted the stupidest Senator once and for good reason. I can't believe he keeps getting reelected.

in the 1930's like it does today, Hitler would have never came to power???? Eh it's doubtful. The economic mess that caused ww2 would have occurred, along with the rise of German nationalism. If anything the war would have been a hell of a lot bloodier.

While the American public was isolationist the corporate elements and fascists in the govt (e.g. John foster Dulles) were sympathetic to and doing business with the Nazis. Germany's dispute with Poland was over a border issue, but it became a world war after Britain declared war on Germany, and that's when, out of loyalty the US govet reversed its position. There was indeed a foreign policy, but it was never transparent.

First two countries he invaded had their countries entire banks handed over to Hitler.

He wouldn't have had $$$, the massive funding to continue his reign of terror.

Grassy, all the Nazi Kochs should have been hung in the Nuremberg trials.

No Nazi bosses allowed to immigrate to USA. (lie on immigration papers) Then we wouldn't have this rise of wealthy conservative nazi terrorists today.

Him and steve king are two of the dumbest M.F.ers in the Congress or anywhere else for that matter. Grassley may retire after his term expires in 2016, he'll be around 80, and Iowa Dems REALLY want him gone (as do all Dems everywhere) and will do nearly anything to oust him. Unfortunately, we may not have anyone strong enough to defeat him at this time.

The republicans are rehashing the same Tactic's in the house as the Nazis did. They refuse to govern, force votes on their issues alone, and do their best to hamstring the rest of government.
