New Jersey legislature plans to send four gun control bills to Christie’s desk

TRENTON — The Assembly this afternoon plans to vote to send four gun control bills to Gov. Chris Christie’s desk.

The bills are not the most far-reaching ones of the dozens the Legislature has considered since the Sandy Hook school massacre in Connecticut, but they’re the first gun proposals from the Legislature to make it this far.

The measures would:

• Give owners of illegal guns 180 days to dispose of them (A3796).

Hurricane Sandy ensured Christie's re-election. The only thing this may put a damper on are his presidential ambitions.

It was a shame he didn't get re-elected in '93. The $2.8 billion tax increase Florio pushed through the Democratic legislature his first year in office plagued him for the rest of his term.
