Conservative Nonprofits That Received Tax Exempt Status Outspent Liberals by 34-to-1

I'd say I'm shocked, but I'm not really.

Conservative Nonprofits That Received Tax Exempt Status Outspent Liberals by 34-to-1

The real scandal about the IRS is that they’ve been overwhelmed with dark money groups claiming nonprofit status since the passing of Citizens United, and conservative groups have outspent liberal groups on political spending by 34-1, according to a Center for Responsive Politics analysis of the IRS and FEC records.

Open Secrets reported, “Conservative nonprofits that received tax-exempt status since the beginning of 2010 and also filed election spending reports with the Federal Election Commission overwhelmed liberal groups in terms of money spent on politics, an analysis of Internal Revenue Service and FEC records shows.”

Furthermore, their analysis showed, “Of the 21 organizations that received rulings from the IRS after January 1, 2010, and filed FEC reports in 2010 or 2012, 13 were conservative. They outspent the liberal groups in that category by a factor of nearly 34-to-1....”

...Karl Rove’s Crossroads is the biggest spender, reporting spending more than $87.9 million since 2010, but it’s still waiting to be officially approved as tax exempt. Gee, do you think the IRS will be able to be objective when it comes to Crossroads’ overtly political purpose, or will they feel pressured to rubber stamp Karl so as not to cause offense...?

to Koch Brothers funded astro-turf front groups that were founded under the idea
that President Obama is not a legitimate President and a threat to America?

This whole IRS "scandal" is just Benghazi spelled another way. Made up bullshit.

Do not spread bullshit on toast and tell me to eat it up it is just country style apple butter. Botany

Sarah Jones? Any real investigative journalist would expose this scam by the politicians but the Media is in bed with them. Some people in public supporting this hoax by the Tea Party needs to wise up. The IRS did the right thing to scrutunize them but they did a sorry job with their investigation of these groups. It is a joke calling these Tea Party organizations social welfare organizations. Anybody claiming so is not being truthful in my opinion. The real victims are the American people, not these rightwing conservative groups that oppress certain people's rights. These groups were trying to pass Voter suppression laws. Why would anybody that voted for President Obama support the Tea party on anything is beyond comprehension. Those groups deserved extra scrutiny.

But that would look like targeting. We really need more false equivalency and false balance even if it means investigating all the Democratic 501s and a relative few Republican 501s.

But the tried and failed "apologize first" Obama tactic rules again.

Instead of standing up and simply stating the facts that if there are 34 to 1 balance of Cons to Lib groups, even if they went after each side equally, it would still look like a 34 - 1 discrepancy. Also it is only natural for the IRS to target groups that openly espouse their beliefs in not paying taxes.

But no, its always cave in and fire someone, thus "admitting" that you screwed up somehow and are guilty of something.
You can say what you want about the right wing but they are way ahead on how to fight scandal. I guess they've had so much practice it comes natural.
first step: Deny deny deny
second step (when caught): Blame the media
third step: Say the other side does it too

But thats whats frustrating. The Dems don't even have to sink to that level. All they have to do is list facts. The Big Dog did this to perfection in his speech at the Democratic convention last year.

Instead its "oops, you say we did something bad....so we will prostrate ourselves immediately and admit to whatever you want and fire someone". Some say the Republicans live in the 1950's. I think the Democrats do. Its too bad, but we now live in a much more duplicitous world and the old sports adage is still true, The best defense is a good offense.

The 5 rules to stay out of prison, or trouble or whatever are:

1) Admit NOTHING.

2) Deny EVERYTHING Emphatically.

3) Demand Proof.

4) Make Counter Accusations

And finally,

5) Assault the other person's character.
