Romney will dangle it in front of him and then jerk it away at the last moment.

The argument for him on the ticket will be that he will pacify/excite the religious right to some degree and could help in Pennsylvania.
Whether or not either of these are true is debatable, but the reasons aren't any worse than the idea that Rubio would help with Hispanics and in Florida or that a woman would help with women.
