Republicans have no information in fixing the laws governing these kind of organizations or making sure IRS offices are appropriately staffed so that they can better handle the workload. I don't believe that there was any malevolence in what they were doing, just doing the right thing the wrong way IMHO.

But I think that is not the most important thing with the IRS.

And they hate the public schools for much deeper reasons than mere money. Good public schools are a threat to their control of the government, and private schools are a profit center based on public money (always good), and they hate all successful government programs because that undercuts their anti-government rhetoric, and they love their anti-government thetoric because if the public loves its government, that is a threat to their control as well. They have to let us vote or lose what little legitimacy and credibility they have left, and as we have demonstrated, when we are engaged and we vote, they will lose.

So, to summarize, what I am saying is that THEIR control of the government (our government) depends on keeping us disaffected from it, and distracted, and divided, and that requires that we see the government as "not working" and we be poor and overworked. So, look around, what do you see?

"They" is this case is our well-off ruling elites.

so when anything questionable comes along the IRS might play it safe and not investigate.

...ie: Rove, AFP/Koch, et al. They never touched those organizations. And that's the problem, not that they're "targeting" pissy little hicktown teabagger outfits. They need to go after the big money-guns and leave the little penny pistols alone.

To make this look like a Pearl Harbor type sneak attack by the evil IRS imperial navy's torpedo bombers on the Teabag flotilla resting peacefully dock side on Sunday morning.
The Teabagged are just trying to get public opinion over on their side. And this scenario plays into their confused nationalistic american history fantasy fetish. They're hoping for the best, after all, we used it in part to justify the first, second, and only nuclear responses in history. The IRS under the mushroom cloud is the TEA party victory.

Under the rock was a worm (disparate treatment of Tea Party groups) and a rattlesnake (rampant abuse of the tax code to hide political contributions from the wealthy). Sadly, President Obama was one of the first and loudest yelling "look at that freaking worm!"
