(4,755 posts)Marijuana legalization will likely start at the state level. Just one state needs to lead the way and others, because of the revenue potential, will follow.

(4,458 posts)Authority to change the laws, but rather Congress, Why are we not putting the same kind of pressure upon our congress as we did with DADT/ACTA/SOPA etc and Make Them do this?
The President can "advise" the justice dept and congress but no president can "make them" do anything-But WE can

(72,790 posts)Because I don't think he can do much. It's likely going to have to start with the states.
CT has decrimilized possession of small amounts of marijuana for personal use, and they're discussing making it legal for medicinal purposes.
I think eventually they will legalize it in that state.

(8,582 posts)But Obama needs to at least do something about the state and federal conflicting laws. MM providers are operating legally within their state, but not federally.

Why no discussion of this issue in the media? It mainly brushed off as a joke...
Why has 40-50 years of lobbying and activism and democratic voting failed to accomplish change?
