An odd computerized political robocall?

This afternoon, I received a computerized "robocall" from 202-870-5604. Afterward, I immediately wrote verbatim notes. The male voice said:

Hi. We are conducting a 2012 national voting survey. It will take about 10 minutes.

Do you want to participate? Press 1 for yes or 2 for no. "1 pressed"

Are you a registered voter? Press 1 for yes or 2 for no. "1 pressed"

Do you intend on voting in the 2012 national election? Press 1 for yes or 2 for no. "1 pressed"

Are you black? Press 1. Hispanic? Press 2. White? Press 3. "3 pressed"

Thank you for participating. (Disconnect click)

That was it. 30 seconds instead of 10 minutes. And they never identified themselves. This left me with an odd feeling, something just didn't smell right. Like, WTH?? Any feedback would be appreciated. Gracias.

Conservative robocall I think. Trying to figure out the Black/Hispanic vote / inclinations. joshcryer Apr 2012 #2

My guess, because you pressed #3 signaling you were white, they ended the call... Drunken Irishman Apr 2012 #5
I also conjectured that. vietnam_war_vet Apr 2012 #7

wonder what would happen if you called the number back to ask what happened? Could be fun.

I've had a call similar but with a live person -- once I answered Democratic, they hung up. I'm going to answer Republican (hey, if they can lie, so can we) and see what happens.

Here's a page that attributes that number to National Association for Marriage: http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-202-870-5604

If you pressed Black or Hispanic perhaps you would've got another question about gay marriage.

....I was an Air Force ground and aeronautical radio operator at Task Force Alpha, Nankom Phanom Air Base. I did two one-year tours. I had the "privilege" of tip-toeing down along the Ho Chi Minh trail in Laos. Agent Orange was everywhere.

So, it looks like they were trying to figure out the voting patterns for minority voters.
