There is an election in 2014!!!! It's 2013...what comes sooner? 2016 or 2014?

Lets quit worrying about POTUS in 2016 and who is/is not, should/should not run. We have a HUGE mid-term election coming up in 2014. Teahadist governors in many states, including formerly BLUE states are wreaking havoc with women's rights, voting rights, labor rights, health care reform, and taxation among many other things.

We have a real concern with the number of Democratic Senators who have left office or will leave office in 2014 and cannot allow those states to switch GOP. The House needs cleaning.

Forget about 2016 and lets focus on what comes next and is much more important at this time. Volunteer. Sign up NOW for any local or national group to get out the vote in 2014 and support good candidates who fight for the American people, not ALEC.

If we lose the Senate in 2014 --- We're screwed! President Obama may be able to veto the most extreme measures the Republicans are finally able to pass (or maybe not).

4. Every Dem In The House & Senate - And Every Dem Voter Should Be Out In Full Force Talking Up......

the importance of 2014. We need to create a national urgency to make sure that all Dem voters get to the polls and vote. Those States that created barriers to getting out to vote - we need to do everything possible to work around - and get people registered and to the polls - even if they have to be picked up and driven to the polling places.

We can't have the excuse that this is a midterm election and Dems sit midterms out. We need to mobilize and get every Dem voter energized to take back the House and maintain and pick up some seats in the Senate. We need to stress the importance of local city and state races and take back our local and state governments -lest we wind up like Wisconsin, North Carolina, etc.

The 2014 election (and I know that this will sound trite) is probably the most critical election we'll be facing in our lifetime. If it goes Red - we're screwed.

2016 will take care of itself and we need to put all our effort into 2014 and keep talking that up.

I'm sure the Repugs want to keep the focus on 2016 and take people's minds off 2014. We can't let them hijack this government any more.

I know that's a "no sh&$" statement but the Koch bros have pledged even more money into the state levels.

Every Dem seat holding or turning is a big FU to them and their regressive policies. Please vote and get others to do the same.

Right now, we need to focus on 2013...NJ has a Senate election as well as a gubernatorial and state legislative elections. And Virginia has a CRUCIAL governor's race this year.

Next year are midterm elections which we cannot afford to overlook! The DSCC is currently raising money for the crucial races, so please donate whatever you can!

We can worry about 2016 after the 2014 midterms. First thing's first!

People are so ADDish about the next presidential election and who will or won't run. Thankfully one of the worst people on the board is no longer with us (take a moment to have a laugh, I mean morn, no I meant laugh).

There will be many important races at all levels. The senate races are going to be grueling. We need to get back many of the governor's seats we lost (Florida, Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, etc.).

And I honestly don't get it.

This is a political discussion board. Why get upset if people discuss politics on it? Does discussion of 2016 somehow hurt us in 2014?

I find this argument comes up whenever people are discussing a 2016 candidate the poster doesn't like. But really, it's silly to object to such discussions on the grounds that 2014 is important. I've yet to see anybody post that we should ignore 2014 because XXXXXX would make a great candidate in 2016.

Of course the presidential election in 2016 is very important, and you can bet that we'll do everything we can to keep the White House in Democratic hands.

However, our focus right now needs to be on the upcoming midterms. Control of Congress, governorships, and state legislatures are extremely important if we are to implement progressive policies across the nation.

Every election, every time...get out and vote as if your life depends on it--because it DOES.

who hang everything on the Presidency. If we could just get the right President, that person can twist arms and use the bully pulpit and get us all we want. This is an immature view, but very common.

Clearly we should quit worrying about the mid-term elections because we have critical elections this year in New Jersery and Virgina.

Unless, we're somehow able to do two things at once.

In which case...

Besides, when you are merely an observer of politics, why bother with small potatoes? Let the little foot-soldiers and organizers deal with the getting-hands-dirty stuff.

These lofty posts about WH politics don't write themselves yanno!
