Ron Johnson, other Republicans say government shutdown unlikely

U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson rode opposition to President Barack Obama's signature health care law to victory in 2010.

But Johnson indicated Tuesday that shutting down the federal government in the fall — an idea embraced by some tea-party-backed Republicans — is probably not the right way to block funding for Obamacare.

"I'm for an all-of-the-above strategy," Johnson (R-Wis.) said. "Anything the Republicans can do by getting information to the public where we can delay and prevent Obamcare from taking permanent root, I'm for it."

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) has discussed using a temporary government shutdown to get a resolution passed to stop funding the Affordable Care Act. When Congress returns from its August recess, lawmakers need to reach agreement to fund the government beyond Sept. 30.

Cruz's idea has garnered a lot of publicity, especially from tea party activists in the Republican-led House of Representatives. The National Review reported Tuesday that the House Republican leadership was working to avoid a shutdown.

The earliest that they could actually do anything about it- assuming that they have majorities in Congress and the WH- is 2017 but by then people will have adapted and it probably won't even be an issue anymore. Obamacare is or will be the "new normal" here in America. Not perfect yet, of course, but it will make things better than they have been IMHO.

We won. They lost. They need to get over it. We had to deal with them getting all those tax cuts and a "war of choice" in Iraq during (P)resident Bush's reign of error, which we all had to pay for. They now get to help pay for health care coverage for millions of Americans.

...to delay the benefits of Obamacare from being felt by the public through 2016, so they can repeal it in early 2017. This is why we must remain vigilant, active and make sure that our base gets out to vote in 2014, and again in 2016.

Let's get to work!!

With Ted cruz and mike lee saying call your congressman to stop funding Obamacare? Makes me sick to watch them when it's my dinner time. Ted Cruz is one scary dude.

My question is if Obamacare is so bad let it fail and then they can say see we were right vote for republican rule again.
