Famously private former first daughter Caroline Kennedy has revealed details about her personal fortune. Nominated as the U.S.s Ambassador to Japan, Kennedy was required to file financial documents with the Office of Government Ethics. According to a New York Post analysis of the filing, Kennedy is worth between $250 million and $500 million.
Much of the money comes from Kennedys trust and investments, which reportedly earn her between $12 million and $30 million per year. Adding to that are positions with Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Vornado Realty Trust, and other firms. Plus, Kennedy rakes in about $1 million each year from speaking engagements and book royalties, the New York Post reports.
The news comes five years after Kennedy declined to release her financial information during her pursuit of Hillary Clintons former Senate position in 2008.
If Caroline is confirmed as the ambassador to Japan, shell be the third in her family to hold an ambassadorship. Her grandfather, Joseph P. Kennedy Sr. served as ambassador to Britain during President Franklin D. Roosevelts administration, and her aunt, Jean Kennedy Smith, worked as President Bill Clintons ambassador to Ireland.
