South Carolina Tea Party Drafts Resolution Calling For Ouster of Lindsey Graham

On Monday, South Carolina Tea Party activists drafted a resolution calling for the replacement of Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., citing 29 points against the Republican senator.

In August, the Chesterfield County GOP passed the resolution with 98 percent of those present voting to approve the measure.

"This reflects the continued frustration of many in the party with officials who are elected as Republicans and then seem to forget the doctrine of the party when they assume office," Joshua Cook wrote.

“The Chesterfield County Republican Party upholds traditional conservative Republican principles and we expect those who are elected under its banner to also adhere to this same standard,” said Chesterfield County GOP Executive Committeeman Glenn Gulledge. “Lindsey Graham has committed a long series of actions that we strongly disapprove of and hold to be fundamentally inconsistent with the principles of the South Carolina Republican Party."

"The 29 points documented in this censure clearly illustrate this trend and make it clear that he is not consistently representing some of our most valued, time-honored tenets,” he added.

get them on his side. Foolish to expect anything 'good' from a SC repug Senator.

Any Dems down there willing to take up the banner against him, or whomever they run?

As long as the tea party is around, the repubs will have to put up crazy right wing candidates. And in many cases they get elected. In the long run, this will be good for the Democrats because the votes will tire of the tea party no nothing antics.

but honestly, if the Senate gets another voice against NSA spying and against mindless foreign interventions, it couldn't hurt. Rand Paul is nuts on a lot of issues, but I'll take another voice on those few issues I do agree with, over a scumbag like Lindsey Graham any day of the week.

South Carolina is NOT North Carolina.

Any crazies can be elected as long as they have (R)s next to their names.

If Lindsey Graham loses in the primary, his replacement will be a crazier nut.

Not good news at all. Time after time when a establishment R gets voted out these days, they are replaced with a tea party person-not good at all.

But when I think of right-wing visitors to DU seeing all the bile directed at Obama and Kerry, I can't help but think there is plenty of similar Schadenfreude on the other side.

"clear that he is not consistently representing some of our most valued, time-honored tenets"---the Teabaggers' complaint about Graham is almost word for word what plenty on DU say about Obama. So the article on Graham and the SC Teabaggers doesn't make me gloat much.

He's a smarmy, irritating, opportunistic scumbag.

If the state is going to get another crazy, I'd rather it be someone against NSA spying and against ridiculous foreign interventions. Graham is for all of those things. So fuck him.
