2016 Postmortem

Just another unintended consequence of starting a war on Syria. If the death and destruction, incitement to future terrorists, increased regional turmoil, diversion of much-needed government funds to defense contractors-- etc., etc. etc.-- aren't enough to make you disagree with the president's illegal and hypocritical plan, maybe this one will make you think again.

The rush to war In Syria can allow Paul to run as antiwar candiate In 2016.

(30 posts)A policy that allows Paul to sound reasonable and principled obviously has deep inherent flaws.

(10,745 posts)And if he does win, then the game truly WILL have been rigged and then we WILL be in really bad trouble. Of course, the number of votes that would have to be stolen for a guy like him to enter the White House would have to be such that the game would basically be revealed at last.....but then it'd be too late. This country will go totally to the dumps while The Powers That Be spend their time trying to keep United Russia in Moscow, and China afloat.
Of course, I don't think Syria would lead to that, though; the same thing was said about Libya, and even with the Benghazi incident, Obama still won, and the GOPs were running their best guy AND were trying to steal the election.

(30 posts)After all, we've never elected a conservative idiot promising a humble foreign policy before.
So, oppose this new war because it is hypocritical and wrong, and-- what's more-- it is sure to be seen as hypocritical and wrong by the people of the Middle East. Oppose it because it diverts money from our real problems, and attention from NSA, TPP, etc.
"The world's policeman" is a bad metaphor. Policemen work for a system of laws and courts. The action against Syria is outside of all international law. Obama, like his recent predecessors, wants to be the world's vigilante cop.
