2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumObama beats Romney 51-45 among Catholic voters (Gallup)...
Interesting, considering all the hubbub made over the contraceptive issue a couple months ago.

Interestingly enough, Romney does marginally better among Catholic voters than McCain, but Obama does marginally better among Protestant voters than he did in '08 - so, it kinda washes out.
Of those who consider themselves 'very religious' Catholic, Romney only leads 50-46, a far weaker number for Romney than 'very religious' Protestants.
So, overall, Obama's voter demographics aren't much different than they were in 2008. Romney will have to change that considerably if he wins - especially when you consider non-religious are overwhelmingly supporting Obama over Romney (67-23). He also gets about the same amount of White Protestant support (33-57) as he did in '08 (34-65).

they would still be against him after he compromised
Once again they are wrong. You can see why Gallup has adjusted their samples and Obama Is leading Romney now according to their poll.
