"the right" versus "the far right", serious question

I know this is not an easy question to answer (definitely not for me), but which groups and ideologies comprise the far right ?

The easy ones to identify, to me, are the KKK and all the other white supremacist groups, the Neo-Nazi groups, National Organization for Marriage, and the John Birch Society. I know I'm forgetting a lot of them.

Which ones are far right to you ? For completeness sake, I'm sure there are far right elements in the Republican Party. Thanks for your time. Oh and f**k the right, far right, and Republican Party.

I don't mind a conservative on principle and one that is, at the very least, consistent, intelligent, and cogent. But most of the conservatives I see are quite reactionary - and I consider them far-right.

The rest who lie and distort, as well as the far right, I have no time for whatsoever. I guess this means 99% of conservatives I have no time for.

I strongly disagreed with their values and conclusions, but at least they didn't lie about the facts. It's been a while.

This is probably more at the local and state level, but that in itself should be very alarming to Democrats nationwide. After all, that's how they gained power in the first place, by taking over the GOP one precinct at a time. We all know who started this, Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson with the Religious Right and Christian Coalition.

They remain a huge force in Republican politics because they hold such a lock on the local party organizations, and their delegations.

The national elected power brokers don't like them very much, but the religionists hold all the cards at the conventions because virtually all the delegates come from this same demographic, conservative Christians.

When I was active in the state Democratic Party in Kansas in the 80's and 90's we saw it happening before our very eyes. The monthly Republican Party newsletter for the most populace county in KS read like a Jack Chick religious tract. It was all about what Jesus wanted the party to do.

Nothing has changed since then except for the Tea Party influence, which may very well may be far, far worse than what we saw happening before our very eyes 20 years ago.

I do not agree that the GOP are imploding. Because we ignore them now at all of our peril. They are fucking crazy and desperately desire power.

I agree with you about the GOP. They aren't going away and will do what it takes to win power.

Look at the political platforms of every Republican Party in every state, for example. Far-right ideas have taken over the GOP.

Keep in mind, in the 1960s Ronald Reagan was considered a far-right kook, one step removed from the Birchers. Until he got elected Governor of CA, and later...President.

What was once the far-right has become the conventional wisdom.

That's the main difference, IMHO.
