Perhpas "kicking the can down the road" is not such a bad idea

Supposedly the Republicans are offering to keep the government open for two more weeks and then to vote again.

Like many, my initial reaction is - what good would it be? But thinking about it again, by then ObamaCare will be in place. Right now the White House is concerned that the shutdown will prevent many government workers, who are supposed to work on the program, from facilitating the implementation.

If the Senate or the President give in now, the debt ceiling debate will make this look minor.

They have to stand firm. Any sign of weakness will ruin our country.

I thought that they would do nothing now - meaning ObamaCare is sailing - and then, in a few weeks, will revisit.

Which means, I thought, that by then Obamacare and the exchanges will be an established fact. But I think that they want to delay the implementation and I agree with everyone here -No.

If the GOPers get any concessions at all they will keep pulling this kind of stunt. They need to understand that the ACA was passed by Congress, signed into law by the President, upheld by the Supreme Court. It is the law. They tried to repeal it 43 times and failed. The President campaigned on it and was handily re-elected. There is nothing to "negotiate."

So fuck them.

Never negotiate with terrorists.

slowly over 4 yrs...the exchanges are all in the various states. Its goingto take time to process anyway. No kicking the can thats what they want more time to f--k with it and maybe another 10 votes against it.

Kick the can down the road until there is a Republican President.

So no. No more compromises, delays or other bullshit.

it is time to have this fight right here - right now. the only thing a couple of weeks will do is put this fight on top of the debt limit expansion. That is bad for all of us. Put it off until next year and we hand the TeaPublicans an election year platform to run on.

The place is here, the time is now, and we are the people. Let our elected Democratic officials know you support them.
