MARYLAND REPUBLICANS cheered for $500 million in cuts to education, public safety & social services

http://www.theonlinestate.com/blog/

Ten days ago, Democrats in the Maryland General Assembly failed to reach a consensus on a budget to move Maryland forward. Now, there is more work to do.

As Democrats, we know we need to come together to protect our investments in public education, affordable college and public safety — and we will come back to complete this important work.

The failure to pass a budget to move Maryland forward is bad enough, but the Republican reaction is even worse. When Republicans in Annapolis learned that the inaction by the Maryland General Assembly would result in more than $500 million in cuts to public education, public safety and social services, they cheered.

They cheered about the possibility of turning back Maryland’s progress over the past six years.

They cheered for cuts that will harm every school in every county.

They cheered for cuts that will harm every student in every classroom, every library, and every local police department.

They cheered for cuts that will raise tuition on every Maryland college student, make our community colleges less affordable and reduce funding for life-saving and innovative research and development.

For all of this, they cheered.

If there is ever a time to come together as Democrats, it is now. You and I both know that a modern economy requires modern investments, by all of us, for all of us. Gov. Martin O'Malley.

You would think she would vote democratic. But she is upper upper middle class. She said if she could have voted a 3 term for Bush she would have. He was good for her business. My husband told her he was terrible for us.

over a million dollars. It is beautiful and she earned every bit. I am not jealous of her but she sometimes forgets where she came from. Our dad retired from the military as an enlisted man. He died when he was 50 leaving her under the age of 11. She worked hard for the things she has. People forget doctors have over head. But sometimes I get upset with her because while she is doing well I remind her others aren't. I tell her to think about her nephew who is struggling. He is a cook and works longer hours than her for $10.00 per hr. I told her she can cut down on her vacations while my son never goes on one. But again she worked for everything she has and she is brillant. I don't know how much she makes. But I will tell you she has breast cancer last year and she had to close down her office. That worried her because she has employees she worried about. She had another doctor working with her but he was leaving to get more education. She had to come back earlier than she wanted but she is doing better. She has twin kids. One going in the same field. So she has another 2 or 3 years. By the time she is finished she'll have been going over 10 yrs.

perfectly clear. I don't think she is of the teabagger type republican. I think she is the Mittens type republicans. But she didn't grow up with a silver spoon in her mouth. I am very proud of her and not jealous of her at all. She always asks us to visit. She never makes me feel less then her. Finanacially we are at the other end of the financial latter.

I worked with someone who was very deep into that group. OMG is very light! There were the dead-enders that were left here in a very blue area of the country. Heh. They were trying to figure out what the NRA's position is. Totally lost! Except for the ability to misspell protest signs!

It was actually funny listening to the inner squabbles of the group about how reactionary they could get. They made RimJob's place look like pikers!!
