Why I am not worried about the idea of a Christie candidacy in 2016:

First, because worrying helps nothing. It is just wasted energy.

Next, he is popular in NJ and admittedly does have a style that can appeal, but he also bullies and that doesn't play as well elsewhere.

Next, his popularity is really very much based on him and his style and not necessarily his policies nor his party. In fact, the voters rebuked him last night by voting to raise the minimum wage against his desires. His national party is not very popular in NJ. Governor is a state's most personal vote, and people just like Christie's forthright style. And when he's not yelling, he does symbolically reach over and occasionally throws a moderate bone. However, he is at heart a big business right winger, and we are really moving more and more into a populist era. Dems need to seize that sentiment. Christie does not support marriage equality and is pure GOP on a host of issues that are flying more and more in the face of today's younger generations and today's growing minority demographics.

Christie and the TeaBaggers are going to have a civil war in their primary, bigtime. And, if Hillary runs, she and her team WILL find ways to punch serious holes in his armor.

What do you think?

a steady drone of Hillary Hillary Hillary for prez, and I am a bit down-hearted at having to choose between a corporate candidate and a corporate candidate, with nothing but the "D" to get my vote. Painting Christie as a corporate shill does not exactly differentiate him from the pack in Washington.

Christie must be looked at as an opponent to whoever we nominate as the Dem. He does not exist in a GOP vacuum, and his own party will only be seeking a candidate who can beat the Dem, whether with personality or with perceived policy. They don't care which, they just want to be back in the White House. Abrasive personality will, I feel, bring right-wingers swarming out of the woodwork.

I can vote and whine, others vote and jeer - that's the way it goes when no one really knows what many other people are really doing. I will, if necessary, vote for a Dem corporate shill - to keep a GOP shill out of the White House.
The dripping "stay at home" brush is getting frayed with all the heavy-handed usage it is flung about with.

In case you didn't notice - Hillary was mentioned in the OP.

Have you read the NYP piece on Romney asking Christie if he'd resign as Governor in order to run as the GOP VP? Seems there's a "Pay to Play" rule Christie couldn't take donations from big banks, since they also do business with New Jersey.

Christie could run, but he's have to resign as Governor, and I don't think Christie has got it in him to quit NJ. He didn't leave for the VP slot, but he may for the top of the ticket.

Read about the Pay to Play rule here:

This was the wildly childish line that the Rs ginned up, and the "liberal media" breathlessly parroted to provide the most superficial and thoughtless cover for the people of this country to vote for and elect a moron.

I USED to think Christie would implode in a national race and do something that would kill his campaign.

However, where the country is right now, he is a drop dead winner (IF he can clear the primary) that really only Hillary can beat.

The Rs have this country so friggen on edge, and so mean and angry, while also being such jackasses in DC, that Christie IS going to be championed as the guy who takes charge in DC.

That's it.

That is "the guy would like to have a beer" with 2016 ...

It IS going to resonate with a public dying to find a way to cut its SS and Medicade benefits.

It also will serve to have the Rs, and their obedient media whores, to completely turn around his inevitable moments of going Jersey Shore on some English teacher in Oregon. THIS IS WHAT WE NEED IN DC!

And, they party WILL get behind him. They got behind McCain who they hated, and got behind Romney who they could not stand. If he can clear the Primary he will be more palatable to the "tea party" people than they were.

And he will play well in the South - look at how angry, vicious, vindictive Sister Sarah Alaskastan is?

They (the The Right Wing IndieTeaPublicans down there) are going to loooooooooooove Christie's mouth and bullying demeanor.

The Republicans are the party of vindictive voices - why haven't folks figured that out yet?

The Limbaughs and Hannities can throw a hissy now to keep their candidate from being coronated 3 years out, but Christie's anger is very much in line with what this party is now.

Christie is peaking now, which is way too early. You do not want to be the front runner this early. Everyone will want to tear you down and they have lots of time.

He as an ego that will lead him to so mess up. So far he has played everything well. But as things heat up all his character flaws will really doom him.

Plus everything the OP wrote, and bam not a great candidate. And bam a dem gets the white house
