Health Law's Troubles Give GOP A Much-Needed Boost

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The health care law's seemingly endless problems are giving congressional Republicans a much-needed boost of energy, helping them to move past the government-shutdown debacle and focus on a theme for next year's elections.

Republicans are back on offense, and more quickly than many had expected, after seeing their approval ratings plunge during last month's partial shutdown and worrisome talk of a possible U.S. debt default.

They pillory administration officials at Capitol Hill hearings. They cite the millions of people getting dropped by insurers despite President Barack Obama's promise that it wouldn't happen. They harp on the program's flawed enrollment process.

Now they're relishing Obama's apology to those who are losing health insurance plans he had repeatedly said they could keep.

At this particular point in time, it is hard to refute the current situation.

The operative term is at this particular point in time. I believe that as the glitches are straightened out and the enrollments pick up steam, that it will have more positive effect. The law hasn't lost popularity and more people have expressed an interest in it despite all the bad press. I think a lot of it is word of mouth. We'll always have that contingent of Republicans that will never be won over, but many people are being helped by the exchanges or have family members or friends, or friends of friends, who are. I think it's too early for Republicans to be basing the 2014 election as a referendum on the ACA. If they go down that road, pouring all their money and resources into defeating Democratic candidates on their support of the ACA, they might not get too far if the number of pluses outnumber the number of negatives. They'll wind up putting all their eggs in one basket and discovering the electorate is more interested in other issues.

Benefits of having insurance? The web site will be corrected so they will have to make super haste right now to get very much footing. Benghazi is falling apart, there has been some recent announcements of changing from the GOP to Democrat. The big job Democrats will have to do is GOTV. In the precinct I worked last week the voter ID is not going to help the GOP as much as they thought. Out of 162 there was only one who came in and the correct name on the voter registration and drivers license was different but a call to the register's office located the correct name and the person was allowed to vote. The driver's license and voter registration was matched by SSN and the voter records indicated if the names matched or not. The big problem, this precinct had 5692 voters and only 162 voted. This has to get better.

The law has helped MILLIONS of people, the majority doesn't want it repealed, the website is getting fixed and getting better all the time, and MILLIONS of people have already benefitted in numerous ways with cheaper plans, better regulations that end being thrown off for pre-existing conditions, etc., being able to get onto expanded Medicaid, etc. etc. etc. This rollout problem has not damaged its public standing. This is typical right wing SHIT.

7. Once people see that they can be insured with decent plans the GOP won't bark

All it's doing is barking - no bite. The GOP needs to be careful that it doesn't get bitten.

Threads like yours don’t help.... Remember the date and time of this thread and I’ll meet you here in a couple of months and we’ll see what is up..
There are more and more success stories popping up on MSM every day concerning the ACA..
and they will become more and more frequent.

It is our job to re-post these stories as frequently as possible.

As such, I suspect this article of being little more than a hit-piece--just more Republican propaganda.
