(30,994 posts)I love both of these women, and they ARE the exact opposite of the Boehner/Ryan/Cantor/ ugly white male republican party.
They could change this country forever.
In a good way.

(13,616 posts)It never ceases to amaze me how some people think the same lady that helped Wal mart become a gioant, who threatened to obliterate Iran, who was slient and complict as Bush went to war with Iraq, is some arch liberal..Clinton would have maddow thrown off the air!

(30,994 posts)Hillary that lives now.
In some worlds, there is no room for growth.
In mine there certainly is.
As usual, YMMV.

(13,616 posts)If she were to become the Dem nominee in 2016, I would vote for her, as I would have in 2008 if she won, but you cannot deny that she and her partner Bill are a large part of way the whole nation moved to the right of Richard Nixon. What is there about the Hillary "that lives now" that says she is different from the 90's? Has she spoken out against her former employer, Wal-Mart? Has she said that getting rid of Glass-Steagall was, in retrospect, a bad idea? She is one of the few that could speak genuine regret, and be forgiven, even praised for it.

(30,994 posts)you suggest.
I'd be interested in what she has to say when she retires from being SOS.
I hated what she did during the primaries. My opinion of her over the last 3 years has changed dramatically.

(13,616 posts)My opinion would change. I udnerstand you cannot run from Bill Clinton, but on the other hand, I do think that man, and his BIG mouth, cost Hillary the election. Obama admitted that Hillary was his first choice for Veep, but Bill was already making heavy handed overtures that showed he was not going to be a simple 'first husband."

(47,675 posts)After 8 years of president, Clinton would not qualify for a VP on term of office grounds. Technically he can serve another two as president, but a two-term president is generally considered a no-starter for VP.

Clinton is corrupt and she and her hubby make $$ from it and their anti-democratic activities

(1,185 posts)We're talking about the Baby Boomer generation and we've not done much "as we should". She's a year older than me, and a lot of us do the Zumba and run around parks, et al.
That being said, she has significantly matured in her international role and has earned respect at home. Bill is back out in front of people again, and I think the two are addicted to the public, If they call her, 50/50 says she'll do it. She'd be the greatest one to break through the Glass WhiteHouse. President Clinton II, or President Hillary whichever, then she can go get on Executive Boards.
Maddow? Finally we get a smart, well-liked, gay woman progressive. She's more influential from where she is and would probably have to take a pay cut.

Ok I will prolly take some heat and I know its prolly not gonna happen but I could and would love to see Michelle Obama run for elected office in the future. I know the idea seems very unlikely and many would argue that she would only being running because of name recognition and so forth but as a 22 year old I look at Hillary and I have never seen her as anything but a capable, qualified and honorable individual who, despite much criticism, is and has become a strong, exuberant advocate for not only womens issues, but for the core principles we as a Democratic Party advocate and believe in.
Michelle Obama is very well educated, informed and a role model and an advocate for so many who in my generation appreciate the struggles and sacrifices she has made in her life, and her story is an inspiration not only for women, but for anyone who appreciate and applaud her ability to rise up from modest to poor conditions through education and desire to become a successful woman.
I personally believe that there are so many qualified and capable, educated and entergetic women in our party that have and will continue to break barriers in our party and our country. I believe that my generation in particular are and will be more open and enthusiastic in putting leaders such as Kirsten Gillibrand, Gabby Giffords, Maria Cantwell, Amy Klobuchar, Jennifer Brunner, Jennifer Granholm,Barbara Boxer, Nancy Pelosi, and so many more who are and will be future elected leaders that stand to represent the values and beliefs that our party stands for.
The Democratic Party and women share common values and priorities, including supporting our families and protecting a woman's right to choose, protecting our country and our communities by promoting workforce and community diversity, ensuring equal pay for equal work, and advancing the issues that matter most to women of all ages and ethnicities.
I truly believe that the future of our party, the Democratic Party, is going to be the many capable and qualified women who believe to their core in the basic values and principles that our party has fought to protect for many years such as a woman's right to choose, ensuring easy and accessible contraceptives for women and families.
