Dispute Over Gay Marriage Erupts in Cheney Family

By JONATHAN MARTIN

Updated, 10:09 p.m. | WASHINGTON — They were the towheaded sisters who tagged along on campaigns, polite and smiling, as their father rose through Wyoming and then Washington politics to become one of the most powerful men in the country.

“We were as close as sisters can be,” recalled Mary Cheney of her relationship with her older sister, Liz.

But now, a feud between the two has spilled into public view, involving social media, an angry same-sex spouse, a high-profile election and a father who feels uncomfortably caught between his two children.

The situation has deteriorated so much that the two sisters have not spoken since the summer, and the quarrel threatens to get in the way of something former Vice President Dick Cheney desperately wants — a United States Senate seat for Liz.

And there's this one about Daddy Darth:

Dick Cheney: Even bigger monster than you thought

Listen to the man with a taxpayer-funded new heart wax indifferent to the life of his donor

JOAN WALSH

You’ve probably heard that Dick Cheney agrees with Bill Clinton about letting people who are losing private insurance keep their old plans, as President Obama repeatedly seemed to promise they could. That’s not surprising: Cheney is a troll who maligns the president whenever he can, and piling on with Clinton is a special kind of fun. Yes, it’s outrageous that a man who has enjoyed many millions of dollars of taxpayer-funded medical care doesn’t give a damn about the uninsured in our society, but that’s Dick Cheney.

Still, I was a little startled to hear the former vice president express total indifference to questions about his heart donor in a revealing interview on Politicking with Larry King (it airs Thursday night; here’s a clip). It’s a window into his utter entitlement and self-absorption, and he comes off as an even bigger monster than I’d thought. Most people would at least feign interest in the donor; Cheney can’t manage it.

When King asks if he knows the identity of the person whose heart keeps him alive, Cheney, who is promoting a book about his transplant experience, says no, and adds, “it hadn’t been a priority for me.” Then he goes on:

When I came out from under the anesthetic after the transplant, I was euphoric. I’d had–I’d been given the gift of additional lives, additional years of life. For the family of the donor, they’d just been [through] some terrible tragedy, they’d lost a family member. Can’t tell why, obviously, when you don’t know the details, but the way I think of it from a psychological standpoint is that it’s my new heart, not someone else’s old heart. And I always thank the donor, generically thank donors for the gift that I’ve been given, but I don’t spend time wondering who had it, what they’d done, what kind of person.

They never take him to task over why he is responsible for tens of millions of deaths--after benefiting from 5 deferments. They never ask him why he lied us into a war and got away with it. They never ask him about the Carlyle Group or Haliburton or anything he ever did to swindle the American people. They just allow him to go on these shows and spew his hate and filth, smear this president with every ounce of venom he has muster. This man is pure evil. And yet, the corporate media just sits there and embraces him. Anything he has to say, they're right there to listen--never taking him on. Never asking him anything that would ever offend him or his former boss. I want to vomit every time I see him.

There's a special place in hell for this evil, decrepit monster.

I don't believe in a 'going to' 'hell' or 'heaven'. I just see us as being there, a consonant matter of choice in the lay of your life.

Watching Cheney operate is to watch evil manifest, for sure.

Wait'll he and the ole lady knock off, these 2 girls will rip each other apart, especially the one going for a seat.

she kept a gun in her desk and she used to while away her time doing "quick draws" and aiming the thing here and there.

People were AFRAID of her.

I think Mary should be VERY AFRAID, too--anyone who can deny a sibling has no soul. And while she's at it, maybe Mary needs to change up her Sunday routine--this shit can rot that soul:

Things erupted on Sunday when Mary Cheney, a lesbian, and her wife were at home watching “Fox News Sunday” — their usual weekend ritual. Liz Cheney appeared on the show and said that she opposed same-sex marriage, describing it as “just an area where we disagree,” referring to her sister. Taken aback and hurt, Mary Cheney took to her Facebook page to blast back: “Liz — this isn’t just an issue on which we disagree you’re just wrong — and on the wrong side of history.”
