Wendy Davis Slams Texas Republicans After Supreme Court Upholds State Abortion Restrictions
State Sen. Wendy Davis (D), Democrats' popular candidate for governor of Texas, slammed Texas Republicans following the Supreme Court's decision to allow the state to continue enforcing its strict anti-abortion law.
"This law is an abuse of power by politicians in Austin. Clinics will close and women's health will be hurt," Davis said in a statement to TPM on Tuesday. "I trust women to make their own decisions and will continue to work to make sure that women and mothers are safe and have access to adequate health care."
Earlier in the year Davis gained national attention for waging a 13-hour filibuster of the law.

(27,431 posts)No matter how pissed off I may get at the Democrats, I'm pretty sure a Thomas or Scalia wouldn't be their pick for SCOTUS.
For me it's al about SCOTUS. That's what matters.

(13,877 posts)Please, anti everything corporate Democrats and DUers. Argue, debate, disagree...but for the SCOTUS, who brought us this debacle of ruling a corporation a person, think long and hard about staying home, voting 3rd party, or taking out our laundry to others.
That's going to take a long line of Democrats to fix. But just one more Bush to seal it for damn near life.
Not to mention what they likely have in mind for Roe vs. Wade. One word. Texas.
