2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumSenator Pat Toomey is on C-Span fibbin' about how many Obama judicial nominees the GOP have blocked
Toomey has a poster board up that says 215 confirmed and only TWO blocked.
The GOP has filibustered TONS of judicial nominees over the past few years - TONS - not only two.
And there are even nominees that gave up and withdrew their names and/or never got a full senate vote due to not enough cloture votes.
Some of them listed here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barack_Obama_judicial_appointment_controversies
Grrr!!!
---------
And TODAY the GOP blocked a bunch more judicial nominees. Today the agenda below was supposed to be voted on in committee because the GOP did not show up last time - and apparently they did not show up again today to the Senate committee meeting because it has been announced that it has been postponed once again!
If the GOP keeps refusing to show up to the Senate Judicial Committee meetings to vote the nominations out of committee then they will NEVER get sent to the full senate for a full senate vote!

(17,656 posts)This morning in a nearly empty Senate chamber Senator Sessions said that they "have been very, very fair to the nominees" that President Obama has picked.
That's been their talking points for the last few months -- they've been very, very fair to the nominees.
It's a total frickin' lie . . . yet the mainstream media refuses to discuss it!!

(50,529 posts)They are courteous enough to wait until the Clerk of the Senate reads the nominees' full names before they launch their filibusters.

(36,974 posts)... when they do not have a quorum in the 'full senate' -- but I think that might not count for 'committee meetings'.
I don't know if senators ever refused to show up for committee meetings before in the past
