Love that paragraph in the article where Mitch McConnell tells the people of his state that the reason college tuition is going up is because of Medicaid. Divide and conquer still works for them.

1. I really did see an honest-to-goodness welfare queen.

I was in a supermarket checkout line in Miami behind this very big black woman. She paid for her groceries with food stamps. When I checked out and went to parking lot, I saw her loading her groceries into the trunk of a brand-new Cadillac.

2. You assume quite a bit about circumstances you know nothing about.

My Gf was on public assistance for a bit. She is working, but her job pays shit. I was considerably more stable at the time, so I would help her with what I could, including, using my car (a fairly new-ish BMW), to run her errands.
So, unless you're checking license, registration and bank statements, you don't know anything.
Poor people have enough stigma as it is without adding any more on top of it. Why assume fraud when there are at least 10 or more scenarios that I can come up with off the top of my head that are easily possible and just as likely?


Also:
I hesitate to ask but, what does her size and race have to do with this story?
