It must be wired into a conservative's brain (?) . We ain't gonna believe in no science-we got our god and preacher men to tell us.
Does this article point out that Republicans are getting more and more entrenched in their own fantasy? Or that the dwindling base is what the article is addressing- these are the real-hard core republicans? These people are truly the American Taliban

(40,416 posts)Almost the entire lot of them. And those who aren't understand that they are vastly in the minority in the party. This comes from three decades of careful strategy, first by Jerry Falwell in the late 70's with the Moral Majority which founded a strategy to take over one of the two big political parties in the USA one precinct at a time.
What we've seen since then, and especially now, is a party driven by religious and ideological purity and all the associated consequences.
We ignore that at our collective peril. And make no mistake, it isn't being talked about enough.

(2,529 posts)The Republican Party has itself devolved into nothing more than a cult, whose adherents stubbornly refuse to see any kind of reason. That's why they are becoming more entrenched in their mindset. They feel that the outside world is encroaching more into their lives with science and liberalism and they're striking back by doubling down on their beliefs and biases. All the sane Republicans fled the fold to become Independents and Democrats when they saw it happening in the last few decades. All that's left of the party is a hardcore of ignorant religious fanatics, a smaller core of militant libertarians and the 1%.
