Ohio's GOP governor has angered the right by supporting Obamacare's Medicaid expansion in his stateELIAS ISQUITH
Ever since he muscled-through Obamacares Medicaid expansion in his state, defying Ohios Republican-controlled state legislature in the process, GOP Governor John Kasich has been hearing threats from the right that his days as the buckeye states chief executive are numbered. And with news of a pending announcement of a primary challenge, Ohios Tea Party has finally made good on its promise.
According to the Columbus Dispatch, Ted Stevenot, a Cincinnati business owner and former head of the Ohio Liberty Coalition, will soon announce his plan to challenge Kasich in this years Republican primary. Stevenot also plans to soon declare his pick for co-candidate and prospective lieutenant governor: Brenda Mack, former president of the Ohio Black Republicans Association.
More from the Columbus Dispatch:
If the Stevenot-Mack ticket were to collect 1,000 valid signatures from registered voters and submit them to the secretary of state by Feb. 5, Kasich would become the first sitting Ohio governor to face a primary challenge since Gov. James A. Rhodes was opposed by Charles Kurfess in 1978.

(32,829 posts)Kasich has lots of money, long and deep connections from his time in congress, Faux news and the national party and tight connections with the Wolfe family(owners of the Columbus Dispatch) and the other state newspapers ; I bet the State Republicans will have lots of volunteers for Kasichs' campaign. While there a lot of very conservative voters in Ohio, racism overlaps that group, and the the Lt Governor candidate Brenda Mack is gonna make it hard for those voters.
I hope both sides spend lots of money and poison their well for a long time.
What do you think?
