Related: About this forumChristie: Incompetent or vindictive ? (Liar)
Editorial Page New York Daily News:
[If you take him at his word] Christie stands as a hardball-playing governor who horribly misjudged or distorted the character of those around him and compounded the felony by trying to skate by their wrongdoing without full investigation. Take his denials of knowledge with skepticism, and the man is a monster.

(14,563 posts)A year ago I dismissed him, cause I think his Jersey Shore crap that the people of his state LOVE won't go as well outside of NJ.
I have come to realize that there is enough national media types in love with him that all his negatives will be spun as positives - just as with Bush II. A complete and total buffoon and it was apparent to EVERYONE. But, the media READILY jumped on the "a guy you would like to have a beer with" meme while doing the converse negative frames with Al Gore.
Christie's gruff demeanor and tendency to bully IS going to be positively framed. The republicans will increasingly point to their ass holery of the last 6-7 years as "Obama being a weak and ineffectual leader" and they frame that arises from that being the Christie is a tough, no nonsense pol who will get Washington DC in order!"
This is a very clear republican frame that the pyschophant political media will lap up feverishly.
WE might care about the substance of this - his bullying tendency and how that is not great in politics. But, the Rs and the "liberal media" LOVE that, most particularly when it is a republican. We see it as a problem, they see it a strength. So, as with all republican problems, it will be about the horse race, not the substance, and this all will be glorified about how he handled it so well and turned it to his advantage.
it is early, and these things absolutely can change.
But, as of today and the near future Chris Christie is a VERY serious candidate for POTUS, and is the front runner who frankly, only Hillary can beat.

Governor Soprano was all set to have his chief of staff nominated as state attorney general, and the state legislature's subpoena power runs out next Tuesday. That would have shut down any investigation indeed -- which is precisely why I believe he masterminded this down to the last detail. His only miscalculation was getting the Port Authority of New York AND New Jersey involved, which opens Bridge(t)-Gate to Federal investigation.
He may be too stubborn to resign, and he could survive a recall vote. But based on whether you believe him or not, either his managerial skills or his integrity have been breached. That's why I believe that Christie's presidential aspirations, if nothing else, now sleep with the fishes.

that is based on people really giving a shit - excusing the language.
The traffic gets going and it will be a distant memory and people will not really care.
He has gone st. Ronnie and claimed no knowledge, can't see the feds, who have yet to do anything about anyone who destroyed our economy, really wanting to go all jihad on him.
Still a LONG time till the campaign opens up - the half life on this will have expired well before he announces.

(3,544 posts)why it took so long to resolve this, and/or give his employees "1 hour" to come clean? Does it take 5 months to root through Emails? I don't think so. This IS the 21st century!! We have tools that can review them in seconds. Believe me, there's more to this story than one perceives. Time will tell. I can hope Mr Blowhard goes down with the outcome.
