There is an "official misconduct" law in NJ.

There is an "official misconduct" law in NJ. From

'The law states that a public official is guilty of official misconduct when he or she commits "an unauthorized exercise of his official functions ... with purpose to obtain a benefit for himself or another or to injure or to deprive another of a benefit.” The same would apply for refraining from performing a required public service.'

the other GOP crooks like Scott, Walker, etc. still in office. Only their voters can oust these goons.

If the DOJ convict him of anything, media will call it retribution by Holder for CC acting like an idiot in Tampa. Which would be a lie as this administration is more focused on getting the job done than staying in power.

Just cynical because the people who voted for him would be in an uproar if he was put out. They knew what he was, just like the people of FL and WI know what these guys are about. Certainly those he shafted with this stunt may be angry; those who didn't like him anyway may be angry also; but those who voters in a union busting, public school insulting, Obama hating governor won't vote the guy out.

If he is ousted by the Feds, I'll give you a virtual cherry coke, Don Viejo:

I'm not dissing this thread or any of the others gloating over Christie, just not believing it will happen.

Bridge-gate emails ensnare more Christie aides and delay an AG appointment

:::snip:::

However, on Friday, state Sen. Nicholas Scutari (D) indicated to Maddow’s colleague Al Sharpton that the burgeoning scandal would also delay chief of staff Kevin O’Dowd’s confirmation hearings in his bid to become the state’s attorney general. Like Wildstein and Samson, O’Dowd is a longtime friend of Christie’s, and until Thursday, he was Kelly’s supervisor.

“I think he understands that there needs to be a full vetting of the facts,” said Scutari, who chairs the state’s Judiciary Committee. “He hasn’t been mentioned to date, and nobody’s been pointing the finger at him, paricularly, there continue to be questions and problems at this point in time.”

even if not outright successful prosecution. This might turn into an example of what Chomsky's been calling the "savagery" of American politics lately.

That he would do so far to please his patrons, was obvious from the audio posted here at DU of his promise to the Koch brothers and a roomful of billionaires that he would get rid of public workers and public schools.

Because 'it's the right thing to do,' he said. The greedy bastids all applauded him for that. He's not strong, he's a weakling who was bought and paid for by them.

He does not work for the citizens of the state of NJ. Christie's not a public servant, he just a parasite devouring civil society in NJ.

Is it bad that I'm hoping Dowd becomes a hero and throws them all under the bus?

Or he takes the 5th on every single question as Wally Edge did?

Or he just simply withdraws and admits his culpability by doing so?

Dowd can't win in this. He doesn't have a lot of options here. I could be wrong - but the Senate/Assembly isn't going to give him a free pass. If he is confirmed I will eat Tripe.

We have a Democratic Legislature. Kelly worked for Dowd - the nominee. If he is smart - he will withdraw . . . As he has to testify under oath.

And right about now I'm feeling like the girl in the movie Lean On Me (about a high school lead by Joe Clark in NJ) running through the halls screaming, "Somebody help us!!!!!"

http://www.nj.com/politics/index.ssf/2014/01/will_new_attorney_general_be_derailed_by_george_washington_bridge_scandal.html

^I'm on my iPad^ and can't seem to grab text from NJ.com - but its a brief read that explains the issue with Dowd testifying in Trenton in regards to his nomination. If he doesn't tell the truth - perjury.

And our Democratic Legislators are going to have lots of questions about his former employee. I don't know if hs name is in any of those documents issued yesterday - but if it is . . . Someone's gonna geeeet iiiiittttt! .

The Gov in NJ chooses not only the State AG but also all the county prosecutors. Usually if a county prosecutor recuses him/herself the AG will handle a case and visa versa, but where do you go from here? Even with the US Attorney's Office, surely there are many Christie supporters left over from his tenure as US Attorney.

Dowd has to get confirmed - and they aren't going to do it. No way is Wiesnewski or Stender going to allow that by the Senate if they don't get answers down below.

Start reaching out to Dems in the Assembly. I wrote (snail mail) Sweeney and Wiesnewski in November advising them I would not be making party level donations anymore (sizable every Feb) due to the way our candidate was treated in 2013. I've written again and mailed on my way home from work yesterday that I will donate this February IF they hang onto this like a dog on a bone.

Because so many Democrats voted against Ms. Buono this past year - we have got to let them know we have their backs on this.

Every voice counts.

I live in a state where County Prosecutors are elected and lived in a state where District Attorneys were elected. Which in my opinion is the only way to go. If a prosecutor recuses themselves the local judge appoints a special prosecutor. We've had that happened on numerous occasions in our area with the special being an attorney in private practice.
