Maureen Dowd Unleashes On Chris Christie

In a slow motion take-down of Chris Christie following the GWB Scandal, Dowd walks readers through an Untouchables-like moment where she sets up the story, baseball bat in hand, and then proceeds to knock Christie over the head in one complete swing of her words.

She mocks him on several fronts. And they all hit soundly. She asks - if this were true corruption of someone with any skill, doesn't its complete and utter failure both in concept and execution indicate that if his office couldn't run a weak attempt at payback, how in God's name would they be able to handle the affairs of the country? She talks about how putting himself out on the stage for a couple hours walking it back doesn't make for fixing the core of the Christie 'bully' syndrome...

As Carter spokesman Jody Powell joked, if Hitler and Eva Braun came on stage at the Gridiron Dinner and mocked themselves in a song-and-dance routine, Washington chatterers would say, “Oh, they’re not so bad.”

Using terms like 'moronic' and 'the big lie', she does a spirited take-down of the Governor with a sweet swish of her pen -- and with her words, dishes up a horse's head of irony for the Governor's bed.

I won't quote the article outright -- read it. It's a pleasurable, easy to follow knock-out. And she puts a lovely velvet glove on for the occasion... for sometimes the most threatening and debilitating dialogue summoned to lay waste on your victim can come in a mere whisper. And Dowd has got Christie's ear right in front of her warm breath lips for this one.

The baseball bat of words, horse's head of irony, and velvet glove that whispers will hold me quite awhile.

She is like a flame thrower that can be twirled around to torch anyone in her path, whether they are innocent or guilty.

call bullshit. "Obama is too much in his head". Sounds like projection, idiot.

Actually I've a read a lot better take-downs of Christie.

Self-serving and egotistic. Apparently something that she revels in that will always taint her critiques of others. Classic projection.

She did feel the need to try and swipe at Obama... although someone 'being too much in their head' is a compliment in many ways. hahahaha If only Republicans were anywhere NEAR their heads, not to mention being IN them for a moment or two, I can't imagine the good things we'd see in the world.

But I definitely grinned at her bringing in the entire Godfather parallel to stamp Christie as a political-mafia thug wannabe... only able to lip-sync words from someone else's script... in a scheme John Stewart even noted wasn't up to New Jersey standards.

of their heads. lol

I'm not even sure what that means.. that he thinks too much? It just sounds like a stupid dismissive.. she's already shown she has no clue about Pres Obama. She's a lightweight observer.

Did you see Colbert's take down? funny stuff.

Her loathing of Hillary is so visceral that I'm prone to believe the NY gossip grapevine. The rumor was that in the 90s she had the hots for Bill. I don't know if it's true, but there's something wrong with someone who is that malicious toward so many people.
