MA Treasurer was charged with corruption - scenario resembles Christie Sandy fund ads

Case ended in mistrial in December 2012 -

Cahill was treasurer, in charge of lottery and was running for governor.

Cahill was charged under state law with directing the state Lottery to launch a $1.5 million dollar media blitz that was designed to run up from mid-September though the November election for governor. Money was taxpayer money.

The lottery ads were to boost the lottery's success. At the same time, Cahill’s gubernatorial campaign was running ads touting his success at the Lottery.

His reputation was destroyed - and his ability to get hired in the private sector severely impacted.

Not exactly the same scenario as Christie - and different laws apply, but similiar enough that I'd be concerned if I were Christie.

That is the first thing that came to mind when I heard about the allegations. You are right also, he may have not been found Guilty but his reputation was destroyed.
