I just got home from President Obama's Campaign Rally in Richmond!

He said to tell you it's still about Hope and it's still about Change and it's about finishing what we've started.

It was all about continuing to go forward and how disastrous it would be to go back to the policies that got us where we found ourselves in 2008.

Michelle Obama was there to introduce him. No one should underestimate her. She's a powerhouse.

The President was amazing as a speaker (no teleprompter, by the way). He did a fantastic job of rallying an incredibly diverse crowd.

And you know what? He rallied us with content, with reason, and with a clear communication of his commitment to do his best for us.

Fired up!

Virginia had gone republican in every single presidential election since 1964 right up until 2008. We're very much in play so we will be seeing lots of ads and probably see a lot of both candidates.

We were all pumped with positive energy, enthusiasm and vision.

I don't think Virginia republicans are gonna be able to access much of that.

(a great and enthusiastic Dem) who thinks he's the only one of his kind there. So demoralizing.
But if anyone gets the smallest chance to go to a rally, I highly recommend it. I got to go to Tampa the last time around. It was terrific.

The Dems. made a HUGE mistake in giving up early on Virginia in 2004 (in Pres/VP candidate time & $ spent in VA). We knew it was getting more and more purple then, in part because NoVA and the other urban areas continue to grow more rapidly than the redder parts of the state.

But it is all about turnout and PAC spending this year. The economy is not bad in VA compared to the rest of the US, so that will play less of a role, though it is obviously important, and for those hard hit, especially so. Just comparatively speaking, it gives Pres. Obama a better chance. Unfortunately, it also helps the state-wide GOP which took advantage of poor turnout and Dem. disorganization in 2010.

Bob McDonnell is term limited to one term so he's running hard for veep. He's got commercials running here about how great Virginia is doing and how he got the state back to work, blah, blah blah. I've never seen anything like these commercials before since he's technically not running for anything.
So transparent...

The righties can slam Pres. Obama all they want but the man can flat deliver a speech. I strongly believe if he had more people on his side in Congress our country would be in much better shape. It's an damned shame that the Rethugs have stonewalled him at every turn and many Americans blame him for all the current problems. Plus, he gets hammered at every turn by right-wing media with Fox leading the way. When you have those knuckleheads feeding their constant stream of bullshit and lies to people, they start to believe them all. I hear it all the time from people and also read it in my local paper in letters to the editor. I get so mad when I see these people put misinformation out there. I just hope people listen to what Pres Obama has to say and that all the effort the right has put into keeping minorities away from the polls don't cost him the election. I don't think people realize the consequences if Romney and his crew of former Bush staffers return to Washington.
