http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20140131/NEWS010602/301310141/Professor-files-run-against?nclick_check=1House Speaker John Boehner wont run unopposed this fall.
Miami University education professor Tom Poetter filed to run as a Democrat against Boehner, a West Chester Republican.
Poetter announced his candidacy for Boehners congressional seat last November and filed on Jan. 24 with the Butler County Board of Elections. He needed 50 signatures to file; Poetter secured 140 and is waiting for the board to certify them.
Boehner ran unopposed in 2012 and has gotten at least 60 percent of the vote since 1990, records show. This year he will also face Republican opposition in the May primary.
Poetter said hes running because he feels Boehner ignores the district.
They want a federal presence. They want someone to represent them, and they dont feel like they are getting that right now, the Oxford resident told The Enquirer.
Fixing public education is a priority for him, he said.

"I am campaigning in District 8. Im coming to see you, in all six counties, from now until election day on November 4, 2014. I grew up just north and east of District 8 in St. Marys, Ohio, so I know the region well and care about it. Ive lived in Oxford for 17 years. I want to hear about the things you care about as citizens, I want to work with you to find solutions to problems, and I pledge to represent you with integrity, honesty, and vigor. The current seat holder will not campaign, because he doesnt care. I will campaign, and I do care!"

he's a Professor at my Alma Mater, where I have a lot of affection (and fond memories) and have given a lot of money to support it's, largely, successful diversity efforts. But on the other hand, Miami University, also, graduated that paul ryan guy.
