Is this the Era amendment to the Us constitution or is it just for the Virginia constitution?

Washington, DC, when that campaign came down to 3 states for ratification. VA and IL were two (I'm trying to remember the 3rd...). I was living in northern VA at the time and was devastated that VA didn't ratify, followed by IL. So the whole project went down with a big crash. The loss just devastated us. We had been working in a coalition with other national liberal groups and every one of them was outraged.

I'm glad VA did this. It is purple and getting more into the blue spectrum with this vote...

experience, it was something we thought we would try again. "Failure is not an option."

Here is a good explanation of what transpired in that time frame that I lived and worked in: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equal_Rights_Amendment#Three-state_strategy

It was an interesting, if depressing, time. We thought for sure we would win. The loss was incalculable.
