BOISE, Idaho — Gun owners are a step closer to being able to pack concealed weapons on Idaho college campuses, a move Second Amendment advocates say will boost personal safety and allow people to exercise their constitutional rights.

The Senate State Affairs Committee voted 7-2 in to move it forward Wednesday, over objections from leaders of Idaho's colleges and universities. It now goes to a full Senate vote.

The party-line vote with Republicans in favor advances a measure that allows retired law enforcement and enhanced concealed-carry permit holders to bring firearms to class. Guns would still be banned from dorms and other campus housing, as well as concert halls and stadiums.

States that currently allow campus-carry are Colorado, Kansas, Mississippi, Oregon, Wisconsin and Utah. Most, including Idaho, leave it up to schools to decide ...

Daily body count's on the news from gun violence.

Now, if somebody's walking around on campus wearing a hoodie, or texting, or carrying popcorn, or playing loud music, or simply, you know, going to school, somebody can unlimber their heat and blow that person away!

Yay Freedom!

I can understand most of the other states on the list.

As for them being banned from dorm rooms, what is a student who lives on campus and carries a gun doing to do (assuming they have no car). Yeah, doesn't matter whether it's legal or not.

Much like its neighbor to the north, Washington. Those two states are blue because each of them have a major urban area. But there are huge amounts of rural land in the pacific northwest where gun ownership is very high. Remember Democratic House Speaker Tom Foley was a life member of the NRA?
