Texas gubernatorial candidate Greg Abbott (R) was happy to campaign with conservative troll Ted Nugent this week, despite the fact the rocker once called President Obama a "subhuman mongrel."
Asked repeatedly by CNN's Ed Lavandera whether he thought it was appropriate to associate himself with someone with such a history of vitriolic and racist remarks, Abbott deflected by saying Nugent was instrumental in going after his opponent.
"Ted Nugent was a way to expose Wendy Davis for her flip-flopping on gun related issues," he explained about the Democrat's support of an "open carry" gun law.
At one point in the video, Abbott's communications director tries to cut off the reporter in front of the camera. Watch below:

(3,064 posts)The Nuge through this. Hell,in for a penny,in for a pound.
Abbott's either stubborn, stupid, or both. He's already got the knuckle dragging white male moron vote sewn up. And contrary to popular belief that is by no means a majority in this state.
It's about too late for Abbott to completely disavow Nugent, even if he has a mind to. Wendy can really make some hay with this.
I'm sure a goodly number of proper Republican women have no idea who Ted Nugent is,much less what a total pig he is. They may be so disgusted with his views (which should get a lot of publicity) that they'll choose to vote for an intelligent and accomplished woman instead of someone who has the despicable Ted Nugent as an advocate.

(8,515 posts)As in your face reporting.. It was very measured and unexciting.
CNNs attempt to turn it into a true confrontation was lame...

(22,000 posts)I saw it and it was far from a confrontation. If anyone wants to see a confrontation, just cut me off while driving.
