Even Young Republicans are Going Kind of Progressive

From Ring of Fire:

Younger generations are becoming more progressive in their politics, even in younger Republicans. The Pew Research Center has determined that the majority of young Republicans actually favor gay marriage.

The poll, released on Monday, showed that 61 percent of Republicans ages 18-29 favor same-sex marriage. It appears that opinions on gay marriage aren’t so much placed in political ideology as they are placed in generational differences. Gay marriage still lacks favor among older Republicans with only 30 percent of those ages 50-64 years old supporting it, and only 22 percent of Republicans 65 years old and older supporting it.

According to Pew, “on this issue, young Republicans’ views are more in line with Democrats. And while support for gay marriage is higher among younger Democrats and Democratic leaners than older Democrats, even Democrats 65 and older favor same-sex marriage by a margin of two-to-one.”

Granted, young Republicans are somewhat less likely than young Democrats to support it...but the handwriting is on the wall. Marriage equality in the entire US is inevitable in the next 10 years (or so).

Libertarians have always been for women's reproductive choice. They've always considered it a part of personal freedom. But, since Ron Paul started catering to the religious right in his presidential aspirations, he's spoken out against abortion and his lemmings have fallen into place, talking about the 'rights' of unborn humans. I find Libertarians on the whole to be a concentration of the worst of Republicans. Republicans trend toward older white males. Libertarians are even more heavily skewered toward males, and they are extremely misogynistic and racist, more so than Republicans. And their average age is generally around 44. They turn women and minorities off in droves and heavily populate 'men's rights movements,' and 'misandry' websites. They have forums discussing the idiocy of having given women the right to vote and proposing legislation to keep welfare mothers from voting. I can't stand them.

I have taken to calling libertarians, MEbertarians, as their every policy status starts with "How does this affect me.

This explains just about everything with the Republicans right now. All the partisan poison, obstruction and stupidity is a generational thing? OK, got it. Can't wait for these jerks to age out leave the rest of us alone.
