Obama is not the Messiah; he never claimed to be.

Obama has done some things I disagree with; he has done more that I do agree with, and a lot of things that make me jump in the air, raise my fist and holler Yes!

Show me a single President from the Democratic Party who has been perfect, I'll wait.

It's OK to say "I disagree with Obama about X, here's what I'd like to see instead". It's not OK to repeat Right Wing talking points, Libertarian talking points, and/or to call Obama names or label him a used car salesman, dictator, etc.

It's not OK to accuse other Duers of being Obama worshipers.

Spewing vitriol may make some feel better, but it makes DU a nasty place to be. Even worse, it's boring! Give me a good argument and I'll read it. Call people names and I'll go read something else.

and much better than the previous tenant. He has kept us out of Iran, Syria, and the Ukraine - I do not believe that either McCain or Romney would have accomplished this.

The jury is still out on his signature accomplishment ACA. It has issues and does not cure the overall problem of healthcare inefficiencies in this country. It does help a group of people that need the help though.

Trade policy. Manufacturing policy. Bank Regulation. In all three of these crucial areas he has fallen short. His support for a higher minimum wage has been insufficient. His continuation of the NCLB has been disappointing.

Overall I give him a C+/B- to this point.

2. Thank you for a fine example of the level of discussion we should be having!

Looking it over again, you mention a series of issues. Each one is at the top of someone's list, but I think we need to judge his performance as a whole.

There's room for discussion and exchange of information to back up the debate. For example - did Obama do a poor job getting his program through Congress, or would it have been impossible for any Democratic President faced with the Congress we have? There's plenty of room for discussion on that topic without name calling.
