Willie Nelson to play Wendy Davis BBQ fundraiser

Few things are more revered in Texas than Willie Nelson and barbecue, and Wendy Davis is enlisting both for an upcoming campaign event.

The Democratic candidate for governor will be hosting the country music legend in Houston on April 27 for a “Backyard BBQ,” according to an email sent to supporters Friday.

The Red Headed Stranger, a Texas native, will perform a private concert at the event, said the email, which added that people will be entered for a sweepstakes to attend with a contribution of $5 or more.

5. I think everyone knows Willie is a Liberal. Especially after he backed Kucinich....

It's really sad how Rural America went from treating Willie and Liberals in general like heroes for Farm Aid and the campaign to save the family farm to treating us like the enemy that's trying to take away their guns and Bibles and make all their kids gay.

After what "country" music fans did to Ralph Stanley after he endorsed Obama, I wouldn't be surprised to see them lining up to burn Willie Nelson albums. It's a different political climate these days thanks to the Tea Baggers.
