John Mccain To Host Hillary Clinton In Sedona, Ariz.

Since leaving the State Department last year, Hillary Rodham Clinton has racked up scores of accolades and appeared on many a big stage. Still, it might come as a surprise that a past Republican presidential nominee -- specifically, the one who is among the loudest critics of Clinton's handling of the Benghazi terrorist attacks -- would invite her to his desert retreat for a lofty conversation about leadership values.

This is precisely what Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) has done.

Clinton, a prospective 2016 Democratic presidential candidate, will appear on stage Saturday with McCain at the Sedona Forum, an annual ideas festival hosted by the McCain Institute for International Leadership at Arizona State University. Clinton is among the national and international business leaders, philanthropists and public figures appearing at the gathering, held in Sedona, the tony red-rocks oasis in Arizona's Verde Valley.

In a statement released Thursday, McCain called Clinton "my friend" and praised her public service career.

"From her years of service as first lady, in the U.S. Senate and the State Department, one would be hard-pressed to find a leader with Secretary Clinton's informed perspective on the many challenges facing America across the globe," McCain said.

She's a bit too chummy with scumbags like McCain.

If by some chance you didn't think Obama was "centrist" enough, you're gonna love Hillary.

McCain gave Hillary his highest praise by saying that she was one of the guys during a trip to Estonia. Apparently she was able to hold her own with the bottle of vodka that was brought to the table.

What's funny is people complaining here about their friendship. The comments at the WP site are exactly the opposite. They are calling him a RINO and worse.

11. I always wondered what his REAL intent was with that comment

It was, in the NYT article I had read, given as a positive story -- but that and other stories - like her drinking shots with people in Crown Point, Indiana -- might have been intended to be subtlety negative to people who might be anti drinking or at least anti drinking for women. (I know Crown Point Indiana - I grew up near there and have relatives there.) Remember that in 2008, McCain was hoping he would be the 2008 nominee. He was also - implicitly in that story reinforcing his own - "I have friends across the aisle" meme.

Now, Clinton joining McCain for anything helps McCain's relevance. Hillary is the overwhelming favorite for President -- McCain could lose his own Senate seat! He is trading on his past position. He also is not dependable. He will attack President Hillary Clinton with the same lack of respect that he showed to Secretary Kerry, with whom he had a far closer relationship, in the last hearing.

For Hillary, I assume that this lets her meet - and presumably impress some important people who - because they are Republican - might not see her in person otherwise. Not to mention, this is NOT a press conference, but an event where HRC can (and will) control her message - and she can say she is willing to reach out to Republicans.

Being friends with McCain is like being friends with a cactus. Sooner or later, it's going to prick you.

I suspect that the phrase "my friend" is overused in the Senate. I doubt McCain has many REAL friends there.

He calls everybody "my friend". He also has a short temper. Hillary and he would have very forceful arguments on the Senate floor. I read that others would just let them duke it out and give them a wide berth. LOL!!!

12. Unfortunately for the USA, McCain is an elected 'Leader' & has to share a stage with a lot of "D's"

A shame 'Mrs. Clinton' bashers will use 'anything she does', follow 'every move she makes', in her extremely busy life, to keep on expressing their dislike of her.

have the leverage to get specific R's not to bash her. Some of you will long for the days of Barrack Obama when
Hillary becomes President. She will not be playing soft shoe with the R's. She will be stepping on necks and
breaking backs. If anyone knows how back channels and politics works it's the Clintons.

Ha! Obama will have another Meep Meep moment when she is elected!!!
